John Zorn's Emergency is Zorn on alto sax, John Medeski on organ, Marc Ribot on guitar, and Kenny Wolleson on drums. This particular recording was made at the Willisau Jazz Festival on October 29, 1999 and consists of two lengthy tracks (28 and 27 minutes respectively) and one briefer encore (about 11 minutes) piece. . The music sounds is exciting and powerful-- Zorn is on fire with this group, taking full advantage of his extraordinary technique although sticking somewhat closer to conventional styles.
