Procol Harum are a British rock band, formed in 1967, which contributed to the development of progressive rock, and by extension, symphonic rock. Their best-known recording is their 1967 single "A Whiter Shade of Pale". Although noted for its baroque and classical influence, Procol Harum's music also embraces the blues, R&B and soul.

British rock legends Procol Harum are captured here at their finest in concert at London's Union Chapel. The band performed tracks from their latest album, The Well's on Fire, alongside many of their classics including Pandora's Box, Homburg, Conquistador, A Salty Dog, Quite Rightly So and the rarely heard full length version of A Whiter Shade of Pale. It was the last night of a tour that had taken them from London through Europe, Japan and North America then back again to London, and the band celebrated with a truly magical performance.

This triple CD set collects every single (A's & B's) released by Procol Harum between 1967 and 1991. Many tracks appear on CD for the first time so this collection is a must for PH fans. As others editions by German label Repertoire all here is top class; the package, booklet, sound and, of course, the track selection.
The best collection yet devoted to Procol Harum's classic early period ties together the many facets of their sound and their early history, including numerous outtakes and all of the music on four albums from 1967 through 1970. The clarity of the sound makes the first album -- which was roundly criticized, especially in England, for having been cut in mono in late 1967 -- seem a lot more muscular and progressive here than it did in its original release form. The producers have tampered with the song order on A Salty Dog, moving that record's title track in amongst disc three's single sides for time considerations while still leaving "Whiter Shade of Pale" and "Homburg" off of the first CD (the original commercial flaw with the debut album in England was the absence of either of those songs, and the seven-month-plus delay in getting it out).
