'Shut Up' is a song by the American hip hop band Black Eyed Peas, released as the second single from their 2003 album 'Elephunk'. It is about a disastrous courtship with the chorus consisting of the lines "shut up, just shut up shut up". Will.i.am needed a good female singer for the song, so he brought in Fergie. She helped out in most of the songs in 'Elephunk' and eventually became the fourth member of the BEP in 2003. 'Shut Up' was not released in the U.S. but became an instant success internationally, reaching No.1 in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Spain, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Romania, Sweden and Switzerland.
