Nearly a year ago, the popular file sharing website MegaUpload was shut down by the U.S. government, which claimed the site was the bastion for online piracy. Its founder, Kim Dotcom, was arrested, along with several other MegaUpload team members.

As promised, Microsoft has released the "Preview Version" of Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 in both 32-bit and 64-bit flavors. This version of Microsoft's home grown web browser first made its debut with the launch of Windows 8 and Windows RT in late October. Microsoft posted up a landing page with URLs for downloads of IE9 and IE10 for Windows 7 but the actual download link did not go live until later in the day.

Heads-up, MeeGo fanatics! While the OS obviously has less support from major companies now than ever before, there's still a large amount of fans out there, and developers as well. The Meego Conference kicks off in San Francisco this week, and there's a new MeeGo release to go along with it. MeeGo 1.2 has just been revealed, with the new release providing a baseline for device vendors and developers to start creating software for various device categories on Intel Atom and ARMv7 architectures.

We will also look at case studies of working systems and readings from the current literature provide comparisons and contrasts, and do two design projects. Students engage in extensive written communication exercises. Enrollment may be limited. This course is worth 4 Engineering Design Points.

How time flies! Every six months, Ubuntu releases the next iteration of there popular desktop Linux distribution, and today is just such a day.
